Nottingham Forest are making progress in their attempt to sign Fiorentina defender Dodo, with reports from Italy suggesting a deal is now getting closer.
Talks between the two clubs have moved into an advanced stage, and there is growing confidence that something could be agreed soon. Fiorentina are also open to selling the Brazilian, with his contract situation adding another reason to get a deal done.
Forest pushing to get Dodo deal over the line
TuttomercatoWeb reports that Forest have stepped up their efforts for the 27-year-old. The same report claims negotiations are already well advanced and that the next few hours could be important in determining whether an agreement is reached.
Fiorentina don’t want to let the situation drag on. Dodo has entered the final year of his contract, meaning the Italian club could face the possibility of losing him for nothing if they don’t act.
That has made this summer a useful opportunity for Fiorentina to cash in.
Dodo has been a regular in Florence since joining the club. He made 47 appearances last season and has now played 162 times for Fiorentina in total.
His numbers from the 2024-25 Serie A campaign also show why Nottingham Forest are keen on the Brazilian.
The right-back provided six league assists and created 51 chances last season, with only one Fiorentina player managed more chances created across the Serie A season.
Daniel Munoz remains another option
Dodo isn’t the only right-back being considered. Crystal Palace’s Daniel Munoz is still viewed as an alternative, with the Colombian already having 82 Premier League appearances to his name.
However, Forest’s current focus appears to be on getting Dodo.
The player is reportedly available for a fee in the region of £13 million, which would give Forest the chance to bring in an experienced defender while Fiorentina avoid the risk of a free departure further down the line.
There is still work to be done before the transfer is completed. But with both clubs already talking and reports suggesting an agreement could be close, the situation is certainly one to watch.
For Forest, the priority now will be turning those negotiations into a confirmed deal. Dodo has been an important player for Fiorentina, and his attacking numbers suggest he could offer something different at the City Ground.
