Nottingham Forest have received a boost ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Tottenham Hotspur, with Ibrahim Sangare expected to be available.
Sangare missed the 2-2 draw at Liverpool after picking up a minor calf problem in training. He had played the full 90 minutes against Leeds on the opening weekend, but is now back in contention.
Xaver Schlager filled the gap at Anfield, while James McAtee impressed in a deeper midfield role and collected the Premier League’s Player of the Match award.
Forest receive further team news
Daniel Munoz is also available despite wearing a protective mask after undergoing nose surgery during pre-season. Oliver Glasner was careful not to rush the Colombian, however, pointing out that he still needs time to get fully up to speed.
The biggest positive is that Forest have just one absentee for the Spurs game.
“The good thing is everyone is fit, just Savona. But even now we have a small squad, with 20 on-field players fit, I still have to leave two players out tomorrow.”
Savona has made progress after his long spell on the sidelines. The Italian returned to partial training this week following his knee injury.
Glasner also sees him as an option at centre-back once he is fit.
“I think Nicola Savona can play this, he has the physicality. He’s a right-back but he can also play centre-back.”
The Forest boss is not rushing that comeback.
“He had a setback and today was his first time back on grass. Now we need to build him up step by step.”
Sangare’s return gives Glasner another midfield option as Forest prepare to face a Tottenham side still searching for their first Premier League point.
