Unai Emery has warned Aston Villa to expect another difficult afternoon when they face Nottingham Forest, with the Spaniard admitting Oliver Glasner has regularly caused problems for his teams.
Villa and Nottingham Forest know each other well after plenty of meetings in the Premier League and last season’s Europa League. Emery expects that familiarity to count for little when the two sides meet again.
“Nottingham Forest and us, we know each other so well, because we played a lot of times in Premier League and as well last year in Europa League, and there are going to be, as well, some players tomorrow involving for them and for us,” Emery said ahead of the Villa game, as quoted by Vavel.com.
Unai Emery full of praise for Oliver Glasner
The Villa boss also had plenty to say about Forest’s new head coach.
“The new coach is trying to set as well his structure, his idea, and this coach is performing fantastic. He’s doing brilliant in Crystal Palace, before in Germany.”
Emery knows what Oliver Glasner can bring from their previous meetings. And, judging by his comments, he doesn’t particularly enjoy coming up against him.
“He’s a successful coach. He’s competitive against us, always performing well. We are struggling, always, playing against Oliver Glasner, so tomorrow, I am expecting a very difficult match.”
Nottingham Forest are still waiting for their first league win this season, but Glasner’s side have shown signs of becoming harder to beat. They drew with Liverpool and Tottenham in their last two Premier League games.
Aston Villa go into the game after their Champions League victory over Club Brugge, while Forest will be looking to build on their recent unbeaten run.
