Jamie Carragher has made a huge claim about Daniel Munoz after the Nottingham Forest defender helped his new side beat Aston Villa 2-1.
Daniel Munoz made his full Nottingham Forest debut on Saturday and wasted little time showing why the club brought him in from Crystal Palace. The Colombian linked up particularly well with Morgan Gibbs-White down the right, with their combination eventually producing the winning goal.
Munoz sent a low cross into the box, which Gibbs-White flicked on for Igor Jesus to finish late on.
Is Daniel Munoz the best ever in the Premier League?
Speaking on Monday Night Football, Carragher was full of praise for the 30-year-old and believes Munoz is the best right-wing back the Premier League has seen.
“I don’t think anybody knows the wing-back position better,” Carragher said.
The former Liverpool defender pointed to the difficulty of finding players capable of contributing at both ends of the pitch. He also used Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso as an example of the specialist quality needed to succeed with a back three.
Carragher then highlighted Oliver Glasner‘s successful spell at Crystal Palace, where Munoz became a key part of the system.
“The other team we think about is Crystal Palace and Glasner, the success they had over the last two or three years. And they had Munoz – the best right-wing back we’ve seen in the Premier League. He’s absolutely sensational; I love him to bits.”
Munoz’s Forest career could hardly have started better.
