Brazilian officially leaves Nottingham Forest after just over a year

Edu has officially left Nottingham Forest just over a year after arriving at the club as global head of football.

The Brazilian joined Forest in July 2025 after spending five years at Arsenal. His time at the City Ground has now come to an end, with sources close to the club saying his contract was terminated.

Edu had already been away from the club for several months. He hasn’t attended a Forest match since February and was last at the stadium or training ground in early March.

Nottingham Forest will not replace Edu

Nottingham Forest aren’t planning to bring in a direct replacement for Edu and won’t be making a formal announcement about his departure.

Chief Football Officer George Syrianos has already taken on a more senior role after Edu was sidelined.

Edu’s time at Forest came during a difficult period for the club. The team spent much of last season dealing with a relegation battle, while four different permanent head coaches took charge during the campaign.

That difficult season also led to questions around Edu’s position.

His departure now brings a fairly short spell in charge to a close. Edu had arrived with a prominent role at Forest after his time at Arsenal, but he leaves with the club deciding that a replacement isn’t necessary.

Oliver Glasner has started the new season for Nottingham in mixed form as they sit on 16th in the Premier League table with just two points off three games.
