Eintracht Frankfurt pushed hard to bring Arnaud Kalimuendo back this summer, but their efforts to sign the Nottingham Forest forward ultimately came to nothing.
Arnaud Kalimuendo spent the second half of last season in Germany, scoring six goals and adding an assist in 19 appearances. Frankfurt had an option to buy him but didn’t activate it, instead trying to renegotiate the terms for a permanent deal.
According to Bild, Frankfurt boss Adi Hutter believes the move was blocked by Nottingham Forest.
“We tried everything. But it didn’t work because of the other side.”
Forest chose to keep Arnaud Kalimuendo
Hutter has now moved on and will continue with the forwards already at his disposal.
“We’ll stay the way we are. And I’m happy with that. As long as they’re fit, I want to let the lads up front run. We’re sticking with that for now because it’s worked well in many games.”
Forest had their own reasons for keeping Kalimuendo. Oliver Glasner was impressed with the Frenchman during pre-season and felt he had shown why the club paid for him in the first place.
“I think he showed why Nottingham Forest signed him one year ago and paid a few sterling (for him). He showed his quality, he showed his understanding of the game, he showed his goal threat. He scored three goals in pre-season.”
Kalimuendo has also shown his value as a versatile option for Glasner, capable of playing in several roles.
The 24-year-old joined Forest from Rennes in August 2025 but struggled to establish himself before moving to Frankfurt in January.
Kalimuendo is now back in Nottingham and remains part of Glasner’s plans as the Premier League season continues.
