AC Milan have Nottingham Forest defender Nikola Milenkovic on their list of defensive targets for the January transfer window, according to reports from Italy.
The Serbian defender has reportedly caught the attention of Milan boss Ruben Amorim, who wants to add another centre-back to his squad. Milenkovic has been a regular for Nottingham Forest since arriving from Fiorentina in 2024 and a regular starter under Oliver Glasner.
Nikola Milenkovic emerges as Milan option
Milan’s first choice is understood to be Sporting defender Goncalo Inacio, who is already known to Amorim from his time in Portugal.
The problem is the asking price.
Sporting wants more than AC Milan are currently prepared to pay, with a figure of €40m being discussed. Should that demand remain unchanged, the Serie A club could turn to Milenkovic instead.
Calciomercato.it puts the Forest defender’s valuation at around €28m, making him the cheaper option by some distance.
Milenkovic’s reliability could also make him an attractive target. Since making his Premier League debut for Nottingham Forest in August 2024, he has played in every league match for the club.
The 97 appearances he has made for the Reds include six goals and three assists. He is also under contract until 2029.
Forest therefore have no immediate reason to sell, especially given how important Nikola Milenkovic has been since arriving at the City Ground.
The January window is still some way off, and Milan’s preference remains Inacio. But if Sporting refuse to lower their asking price, Nikola Milenkovic could become a definite alternative.
